The village of Barzan and its counterpart Barzan-plage which is a small seaside resort built in the 70s, is located in the south-west of the department. Two hamlets of a certain importance are located on the territory of the commune: the port of Monards, crossed by the channel of Maque-souris and Les maison-Neuves which marks the border with the neighbouring commune of Arces-sur-Gironde. Idea of hike with the loop Barzan-plage - Arces - Fontenille of a distance of 32 km, located near Meschers-sur-Gironde. The trail follows a river and its difficulty is moderate. The trail is mainly used for nature observation.
