A beautiful Romanesque edifice, this cathedral, built on the rocky outcrop of Angoulême, is a must-see landmark, like a lighthouse watching over the town. Its façade is a masterpiece of Romanesque art, and you can spend hours detailing the various sculpted plaques that follow one another in 4 rows, the highest of which is occupied by an imposing Christ in glory surrounded by the horsemen of the Apocalypse. Inside, don't miss a visit to the cathedral's treasury, staged by Jean-Michel Othoniel and featuring some 150 liturgical objects.

Cathédrale dont la pierre est très bien entretenue, c'est rare de voir un tel édifice avec une couleur encore aussi blanche, pas salie par le temps. J'apprécie plus particulièrement d'admirer la façade la nuit car l'éclairage de la rue met bien en valeur la devanture.

Très belle cathédrale surtout pour son extérieur reconstruit dans la copie de l'art roman vers 1860 par Louis Abadie.
A l'intérieur un très beau vitrail moderne dit "le trésor" d'Angoulême .
