In Saint-Jean-de-Luz, jaï-alaï is well known. The local club, Gaztenak, founded in 1982, trains youngsters in pelota, specializing in cesta punta in winter and grand chistera in summer. What is a jaï-alaï? It's a fronton where cesta punta is played, with a side wall perpendicular to the frontis, located to the left of it, and a back wall parallel to the frontis. In 2024, the 40th edition of the International Cesta Punta will take place.
