Depending on your tastes and desires, you can embark on a crossing of the bay (from Le Crotoy or Saint-Valery), meet birds and seals, admire the high tides or, for bird lovers, explore the Grand-Laviers bird sanctuary. In short, an ideal opportunity to discover the Baie de Somme from the delightful angle of nature!

Whether you're living in the corner or you're in the middle of it, you'll have to walk through the bay of Somme. But beware, not by imported what conditions! To make safe progress and value the subtleties of its ecosystem, the best thing is to have a competent professional guide. From April to November, Hiking-Nature in Somme offers you its hike through the Bay of Somme. Equip yourself with old shoes, sun protection, a windmill and (especially!) your binoculars, and it's gone for a walk out of the ordinary to meet nature…

Olivier, your guide, is fascinated by nature and migratory birds. He is specialised in environmental engineering and offers you a dozen tours, each more enticing than the last: a trip to the cliffs of Ault, the seals of Hourdel, the crossing of the Bay of the Somme, the grand tour of Marquenterre, the wonders of the Bay of the Authie, the seals and the birds, the magic of the waves... The hikes range from half a day to a full day and the way he describes the places and reveals their secrets captures all the attention.

Nature outings, micro-adventures, walks in the bay: Maxim Marzi, a passionate guide, will help you discover this still wild nature through several walks starting at 2h30. If you're lucky, you'll come face to face with seals, and discover the treasures of the area: strange pebbles, mud, birds and more. The more athletic can try their hand at wading through mud, climbing micro-cliffs and walking on salt meadows. Snacks provided and equipment available on loan!

Several guides are already on hand to help you discover the Baie de Somme, but with Lucas, a native of the region, you'll be sure to get off the beaten track! He'll be able to adapt to your profile and propose a tailor-made activity. Choose from a 7 km walk across the bay, a guided tour of the medieval town of Saint-Valery (2 hrs), a moonlit photo walk in the bay, an encounter with seals, team games (such as survival or escape games) and some very original bachelor parties!

Set off on an adventure in 3 hectares of oak and beech forest. You'll be perched several meters off the ground, on accrobranche courses adapted to everyone's level. Even the under-5s can take part, thanks to the Pitchoun course specially designed for them. Adults, on the other hand, will have to summon up all their courage and overcome their fear of heights to traverse these obstacle courses. Fun: night-time events, an escape game and, since 2022, immersion outings in the bay with local shepherds!

Parking at the tourist office, place Guillaume-de-Normandie.

Follow the Blavet wharf until the Pilots square. Continue Violette Quai to enter the Courtgain, the marine neighborhood. Mount the path of Calvary. Take the rue des Moulins, rue d'Argoules, rue Al-Prosper-Ravin, rue de l'Warehouse which runs through the old warehouse to the salts and return to the tourist office.

Follow the Blavet wharf again, then the boardwalk. Before the Jeanne-d'Arc wharf, turn left, rue Doctor-Lomier. Pass the Nevers door to the right which allows access to the high city. Take on the right a staircase leading to the city walls. Walk along (view of the bay) to Saint Martin church. From Saint Martin Square, follow the street of the Belfry, pass the Guillaume Gate and then take the rue de l'Abbaye to the Chapel of the Sailors.

Return to Rue de la Chapelle, Rue des Processions on the left, rue Saint-Nicolas on the right, rue des Fosses on the left, Piazza-Joffre, rue Questive on the right, rue des Sinks on the right and win the Place-de-Beater on the left. Drive towards the bay and then use the boardwalk to find the tourist office.

Parking on the Bay of Somme railway car park. From the station go to the gendarmerie and take the second street on the left. Cut the D 940 and descend to Le Mollenel. At the bottom of the coast turn right on the road. Win a crossroads. Continue straight to the gas station. Cut the D 48 and keep on facing. In Accompany's wood, at the fork, turn right. Cross a small road and then the D 2. Turn right, cross the railway. Take the second right road, turn right, turn left and cut the D 940. Take the D 3 on the left 100 m. Turn right on the road leading to the high town of Saint-Valéry. Win the promenade and then the train station.

Visiting the Baie de Somme from the water: now there's an idea that's a little different from the ordinary! You'll embark on a tour of the bay aboard a Polynesian pirogue, a va'a, or in a kayak: you'll have to paddle. Don't worry, though: the view of this unspoilt natural environment is well worth the energy expended. Departures are adapted to tide and participant schedules, so reservations are essential! There are several routes of different lengths: seal encounters, salt meadows, tour of the estuary...

From Saint-Valery-sur-Somme to Abbeville, come and discover the Somme canal on board of pleasure boats which can accommodate from five to seven people and - moreover - can be sailed without a licence. The nautical base is located 100 m from the drawbridge at the exit of Saint-Valery-sur-Somme towards Le Crotoy. If you prefer, you can also rent a bicycle, classic, tandem or electric. You can then take advantage of the "Véloroute Vallée de Somme" cycle tracks to discover Saint-Valery-sur-Somme and its surroundings. Free parking.

At the mouth of the Somme Maritime Canal, this maritime and river port has 250 berths, in the heart of the town, close to shops and restaurants. The visitor berths are located at the end of the pontoons. You will find a large number of facilities: toilets, showers, a laundry with washing machines and dryers, a bar and a brasserie, as well as a wifi connection throughout the port.
