This village is no longer surrounded by the sea. The wet pastures have replaced the sand and only the heights of the village allow you to enjoy the beautiful spectacle of the estuary. However, it is one of the oldest communes in France. In 1850 the Abbeville-Etaples railway line was built there. At the crossroads of the hamlet of Nolette, at the stop sign go straight on towards the Chinese cemetery. In this Chinese cemetery, isolated in nature under the cedars and surrounded by a small stone wall, a terrible tragedy is unfolding. In the spring of 1916, after a difficult crossing, the first contingent of a "Chinese workers' corps" disembarked at Noyelles station. They were not combatants but labour recruited following a pitiful Sino-English diplomatic agreement. These men will live crammed into a camp in lamentable conditions, both hygienic and working. The Spanish flu wreaked havoc. Eight hundred and forty-two stelae remind us of these deaths, so far from their homeland, without really knowing why... The porch bears inscriptions in Chinese speaking of eternity. A box contains a guestbook. At the entrance of the path, two marble lions symbolize the twinning of Nolette with the Chinese village of Tungkang which took place in June 1985.Return to the crossroads of the hamlet of Nolette and turn left towards Noyelles. Cross the village and at the crossroads turn right towards the Baie de Somme, direction Le Crotoy. Take the panoramic road of the bay which follows the route of the dike separating the Mollière and the cultivated land.
