Aveluy is part of the community of communes of the Pays du Coquelicot and is located on the circuit of the Remembrance, going through the main places of memory of the Great War in the region, between Péronne and Albert. During the First World War, the Aveluy wood was used by the British army as a strategic place to deposit ammunition and supplies. The town was completely destroyed during the Battle of the Somme. Today, it houses a beautiful church built in red brick, just like the town. Among the places of memory, the Monument aux Morts and La Nymphe d'Aveluy, a reproduction of a sculpture made by Poilus.
