This village is well worth a visit! The link between Picardie Maritime and Pays de Caux, Ault is a charming seaside resort and has been awarded the Grand Site de France label for the preservation of its natural environment. It comprises a lower part with a beach at Onival, a village with beautiful houses at Ault and the pretty Bois de Cise, a little further south. The view is impressive, although the high tides and erosion constantly threaten the town with collapse. The cliffs rise like colossus above the sea. "This place is beautiful. I couldn't tear myself away from it", wrote Victor Hugo to his wife about Ault in 1837.
