Medieval, Morlanne's origins go back to feudalism. Gaston Fébus later made it a defensive stronghold, with two agglomerations, one around the castle and the other around the Saint-Laurent church. Imposing, it is she who stands at the entrance of the village even today. Opposite, in the square, the Belluix house, built in the 15th and 16th centuries, surprises by the austerity of its architecture, its Renaissance-style windows, its small skylights and its loopholes. A little further on, in the purest Béarnais style, you will find the town hall in the main street, and in the streets around (especially in rue Carrère) typical houses that belonged to peasant soldiers at the time. Indeed, six-metre lots were offered to them to build their house, on the condition that they would provide their services in the event of an attack. The main street is characterized by the typical construction of the new towns of the Middle Ages and finally the castle stands on a rocky spur and dominates the whole plain.... since 1373!
