This peaceful village of less than 300 inhabitants has the right ingredients for walks: a majestic forest, an oak tree that is said to be the oldest in France, a beautiful abbey church, an elegant fortified gate, charming little houses, an arboretum, an organ with superb acoustics, beautiful concerts during the Forest Festival and a very famous restaurant... The song Mon amant de Saint-Jean owes its name to its composition in 1942 at the inn La Bonne Idée in Saint-Jean-aux-Bois.
