Located in the south of the forest of Compiègne, 10 kilometers from Crépy-en-Valois, Morienval is famous for its abbey and its former royal monastery (which was long considered one of the most powerful in the region). Its construction, which began in 920, lasted more than a century. The complex includes several remarkable buildings, including the Romanesque church, the twin towers, the false ambulatory and the carved capitals in the aisle of the nave. The site was classified on the list of historical monuments very early, in 1840. Not to be missed if you are visiting the region
