Lille Métropole's museum of modern art, contemporary art and art brut, with a collection unique in the world.
The museum of modern art, contemporary art and art brut of Lille Metropole, is an architecture all in sobriety, underlined by a superb park sheltering the works of great sculptors such as Picasso, Calder or Lipchitz. Bathed in natural light, the museum has a collection that is unique in the world, presenting three collections: modern art, contemporary art and art brut. Through more than 7,000 works by such prestigious artists as Georges Braque, Fernand Léger, Amedeo Modigliani, Joan Miro and Kees Van Dongen, visitors discover a unique panorama of 20th and 21st century art. The collection of art brut is impressive. Over the years it has become one of the most important collections in Europe. Numerous anonymous works stand alongside great names such as Aloïse Corbaz, Henry Darger and André Robillard. The different areas of the museum are large and bright and the visit is quite natural. By encouraging new dialogues within its permanent collection, its temporary exhibitions and its cultural programme (shows, screenings, concerts, workshops, etc.), the LaM stimulates the curiosity and arouses the emotions of all its visitors. Even the youngest visitors can enjoy guided tours and songs! This quality of openness and the diversity of its collections make it one of the most important museums in Northern Europe. A visit not to be missed. And for those who would like to continue the visit at home, it is possible to explore it on the website.
