Lourdios-Ichère is notably known for its former mayor, Jean Lassalle, candidate for the presidential election in 2017! This old and warm village culminates at 460 meters above sea level and like many in the Aspe valley, it has a number of charming sites, notably thanks to the Espalungue stream, its tributary the Coueyla stop and the Lourdios river flowing through it. Picturesque with its scattered houses, it is a mecca for green tourism thanks to its location in the mountains. In addition to the magnificent panoramas, you will find there an interesting heritage such as the church of Saint-Isidore dating from the 17th century (renovated in the 19th century) or the 18th century Casteig farmhouse. It has kept its stable built in 1771 and its main building in 1777 with a beautiful sculpted lintel. The whole complex is listed in the inventory of Historic Monuments. Finally, around this town is the wood of Ichère, a magnificent natural area to be discovered without moderation. One cannot come to Lourdios-Ichère without visiting the Aspe Valley Ecomuseum, dedicated to pastoral and agricultural life from the 19th century to the present day.
