Labourdin-style village of 840 inhabitants, with a pretty square surrounding the 17th-century church and its massive white tower. In 1834, a kaolin deposit was discovered, and a factory supplied porcelain manufacturers in Limoges and Spain. The commune is surrounded by peaks, Baïgura (897 m) and Ursuya (778 m), from which numerous springs flow. It borders the two provinces of Labourd and Basse-Navarre. Of particular note is the Biscuiterie, which continues the culinary tradition of making galettes, financiers, Basque cakes and other delicacies, KMS Gravure, and a number of typical guest houses.
