A picturesque fortified town, Crépy-en-Valois overlooks two verdant valleys watered by the rus des Taillandiers and Sainte-Agathe. Its history is inextricably linked with that of the château and Saint-Arnoul abbey. Sacked in the 13thcentury , despite its fortifications, the town took centuries to recover. In the 16th century, Crépy regained a certain prosperity thanks to agriculture, but it struggled to regain its former stature until the French Revolution. Despite multiple destructive bombardments during the two world wars, Crépy has managed to preserve its heritage. Strollers will admire the old houses in the old town.
