A small commune (59 inhabitants) in the canton of Mauléon, capital of Soule, it lies on the border between Béarn and the Basque country. It is a stopover for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. The town owes its name to a now-defunct hospital for travellers. The Hispano-Moorish Romanesque church (magnificent!) is the village's only listed historic monument, dating from the 11th and 12th centuries. And the only vestige of a former hospital foundation. Nearby accommodation (gîtes, chambres d'hôtes...) for your stopover, and many starting points for hikes on the GR 78.
