THIÉRACHE SPORT NATURE

Amusement park
4.5/5
2 reviews

This association, which specializes in activities and stays in the heart of nature, has some nice surprises in store for you. Canoeing, archery, climbing, geocaching, mountain biking, multi-sport raids, nature outings, orientation: there is always something to enjoy in this magnificent and preserved setting. Multi-activity trips based on different themes (the water cycle, fauna and flora, wetlands or the impact of human activity on nature) allow for multiple discoveries. On the Oise river, calm and accessible to all, you will enjoy a descent that alternates between drossages, gravel pits and small rapids. Tuna is a more maneuverable and wild course on which you will appreciate the crossing of the mills marking the descent and which offer small thresholds. Climbing enthusiasts will be delighted to discover the natural site of the Pas-Bayard rocks, located in the middle of the forest with about thirty routes from level 4a to 7a. An indoor climbing room is also available. The Thiérache Sport Nature base is the guarantee of a good time with family or friends!

JACKDAW NOTHING TO DECLARE

Museums
4/5
2 reviews

Visit the locations of Dany Boon's film, Nothing to Declare. Relive the border crossing between Macquenoise (Belgium) and Hirson-Forêt (France). The atmosphere of the film is tremendously well recreated, thanks in particular to André Meunier, a true local figure! You will learn more about the territory, about various products such as Chimay beer or maroilles and about filming. Eight years after the film's release, the places, which have been transformed into a small museum, still attract many visitors, so that in 2017 the team created an escape game called "The Office". Locked in the customs offices, your team has 60 minutes to find the keys to the famous 4L of the film in order to escape the customs chief. The success has been such that, since then, two other escape games have emerged: "Le Garage" and "L'Enquête". A frank part of laughter in perspective.

FRESCO JEAN JAURÈS

Works of art to see
4/5

The monumental work of Jérémy Amate, a young Parisian artist, was made with the black chalk and coal. The gaze of Jaurès spread over 30 m in length and 11 m high. Impressive. In the 100 years of the disappearance of Jean Jaurès, Hirson wanted to pay tribute to the French humanist. In front of the small school that bears the name of the member, this great memorial wall captures attention. A detonating fresco that does not pass unnoticed in the local landscape.

THE FLORENTINE TOWER

Local history and culture
4/5
1 review

Classified as a historic monument since 6 November 1995, this concrete concrete work of French architect Gustave Umbdenstock and Engineer Raoul Dautry is over 45 metres on six floors. Built in 1920-1921, the tower was a referral station from Hirson station. Art Deco bricks and ceramics complement this magnificent witness of the past. Surprisingly distinctive, its style recalls northern belfries. It is possible to approach the monument as close as possible to impressive photos.

THE VICTOR HUGO FOUNTAIN

Contemporary architecture
2.5/5
2 reviews

Even though the work may still be debated in the city - some will say that it swears in the landscape - the Victor Hugo fountain is still in place and animates Victor Hugo's place of its many jets of water, summer. Realized in 1990 by artist Patrick Saytour, also known for its decorative and utilitarian objects, the fountain was completely restored and consolidated in 2012. An astonishing contemporary creation, a kind of theatrical parody of art, to you to form your own opinion on this fountain that continues to divide!
