Church set in a remarkable mountain landscape overlooking the Nive valley, on the Pas de Roland road

The church of Itxassou dates from the 17th century and does not depart from the rule of the conformation of the classical Basque church: a single nave, a gilded wooden altarpiece, a three-sided chevet, three galleries of remarkably sculpted oak. Note the bust of an old man at the beginning of the staircase, carrying a ruler in one hand and a chisel in the other. Is it the craftsman or the journeyman? Discoidal and tabular crosses in the nearby cemetery. The church is situated in a remarkable mountain landscape and dominates the Nive valley, on the road to Pas de Roland.

Charmante église typique avec ses balcons auxquels vous pouvez accéder, jusqu'au dernier étage et qui vous donne une vue d'ensemble de la nef.
Le petit cimetière attenant possède des tombes anciennes avec les croix discoidales.
