Hendaye forms a special trio with its Iberian neighbors Irún and Fontarrabie, on the other side of the Bidassoa, where cultures and gastronomies merge. Even today, almost a third of the town's inhabitants are Spanish. Hendaye, a town of 2 peoples speaking 3 languages - French, Spanish and Basque. At 3 km long, Hendaye boasts the world's longest sandy beach. There's no shortage of points of interest, from the Château Observatoire Abbadia, built at the end of the 19th century by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, with its exceptional panorama, to the Maison de la Corniche, a former Basque farmhouse now owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral.
