It is to Georges Clemenceau, who came to live here in 1919, and to his house (now a museum) on the dune, with its terrace overlooking the sea and a peaceful garden, that we owe the reputation of this resort on the southern coast of Vendée. But the history of Saint-Vincent-sur-Jard goes back further than that: there are megaliths and tumuli attesting to human occupation since the Neolithic period. Later, the Romans established a post and the Gauls a port. A family seaside resort, its fine sandy beaches are a joy for swimmers, and its forest paths, for walkers and cyclists. A rendezvous with history facing the sea.
