Montreverd is a new municipality. It comprises the following communes: Morhouse, Thirteen-Pathway and Verdon. Saint-Sulpice-le-Verdon owes his name to the patronage of a chapel dedicated since 1182 to Saint Sulpice, the Bishop of Bourges - dead in 591. Nickname Verdon - Viridis ❒: green, green - added to Saint Sulpice comes from a meadow placed in the fief of the Chabotterie, called "Pre Verdon". The history of Saint-Sulpice is marked mainly by the wars of Vendée and in particular the catch of Charette on March 23, 1796 in the wood of the Chabotterie. In this respect, the municipality has a rich heritage with the Logis de la Chabotterie, a great historic site of Vendée wars. Another vestige, exhibited in the church Notre-Dame, its so-called "miraculous" wood statue of the Virgin Mary preserved during the fire of the church by the infernal columns on February 28, 1794. Another curiosity, the Oak Chapel (La Petite Chevasse), a oak of over 1,000 years old in which a rustic chapel was developed dedicated to Notre Dame du Sacré Coeur and La Chevasse. Finally, the Cross of Charette, which is the place of capture of General Vendeen on March 23, 1796 (Vendée wars).
