Facing the Atlantic Ocean, Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez is an important seaside resort, regrouping several districts. Apart from downtown, several neighborhoods are identifiable : the Quartier du Terre-Fort, a residential area that also hosts a shopping area and playgrounds for children. The Pège, Mouettes, Becs and Demoiselles neighborhoods. These neighborhoods are located along the coastline to the north of the town. It is in this district that many tourist accommodations and leisure activities are concentrated. The Pissot district in the north-east: between the soft and Breton marshes, bordered by forest, this district will offer you calmness a few kilometers from the sea. It is an ideal place for walking or biking in the marshes. The large area (48.9 km2) of this seaside resort offers a varied natural environment between ocean, forest and marshes. A leading seaside destination on the Atlantic coast, Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez offers all the advantages of a dynamic town in a natural and preserved environment. Twelve kilometers of fine sandy beaches, bordered by dunes. From Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie to the Sion district of Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, the western and southern shores of a former island are still visible for about three kilometers. This is what we call the Corniche Vendéenne, a classified site since 1926. For 3 km, the sea attacks relentlessly the cliffs of about ten meters high, creating caves, cutting the rock and sometimes giving birth to small creeks.
