LADIES' BEACH

Water sports
4.4/5
7 reviews

Without doubt the most emblematic beach of the island... On this adorable little beach of the Ladies, a seaside art of the beginning of the 19th century remains, largely reinforced by the white wooden beach huts which border it. Embellished by the proximity of the Bois de la Chaize, embalmed from February by the mimosas in bloom, the Plage des Dames, the darling of the Nantaise and then the Parisian women, remains the most exclusive beach of the department. It was the location of the film " Le Petit Nicolas"; beach and shops were revamped for the occasion.

Take the allée des Soupirs from avenue du Maréchal-Joffre. A few steps lead up to this cove. This is undoubtedly one of the most unspoilt coves on the island. The beach at Anse-Rouge is dominated by the lighthouse-like Tour Plantier (privately owned), offering a truly picture-postcard landscape.

PADEL-TENNIS LES MIMOSAS

Tennis court

You can reserve a court at the island's municipal tennis club, but here you'll be able to play a trendy sport from South America, Argentina in particular: padel. It's a cross between tennis and squash. It's played by 2 players on a court that's smaller than a tennis court and, above all, surrounded by walls, glass or wire mesh. Players can use the walls to send the ball over the net. Another special feature is that the rackets are made of rubber and have no strings, but are pierced with holes; and the ball is smaller in size.

The Souzeaux beach is lined with majestic villas; together with the Anse Rouge beach, characterized by bathing cabins, they are very characteristic of the island. It's a little-known beach because it's not very accessible, but it has an intimate, privileged feel to it. A truly lovely beach.
