Longeville-sur-Mer is divided into three main areas: the plain, the marsh and the forest which borders 7.2 km of beach. Affiliated with the interregional park of the Marais Poitevin, Longeville-sur-Mer is the end of the Marais Poitevin. The town is located behind the three beaches of Bouil, Rocher and Conches (surfers' paradise). Its origins date back to Roman times. However, this territory of the south Vendée coast was inhabited much earlier, as evidenced by the presence of many menhirs. Until the 15th century, Longeville was located at the entrance of the Gulf of Pictons, immediately at the edge of the sea. Now set back, it has become an ideal seaside destination. The village still grows tulips and potatoes in the sandy soil, which is ideal for these crops. It has three well secured beaches that stretch over 7 km, allowing everyone to enjoy the sea, from swimming to fishing on foot in the rocky sites. On its 650 hectares, the coastal forest is made up of maritime pines and holm oaks, criss-crossed by 7 marked circuits, enhanced by a fitness trail and an educational trail on the fauna and flora of the forest and the dune. Longeville is also the end of the Marais Poitevin as we told you before, and to discover it better, book a guided boat trip at the Maison du Marais or a free canoe trip
