Visit the Puits d'enfer in Les Sables-d'Olonne, an old massif that has undergone intense posterior fracturing.

The cliffs of the sea front allow us to observe the structure of this old massif which underwent an intense posterior fracturing developing a network of breaks, shearing the coastline between Les Sables-d'Olonne and Cayola. A 30 m long tear where the sea dug a corridor a few meters wide. Legend has it that this rift was caused by the impact of a ship during a storm, costing the life of a local sailor who was punished for not keeping a promise of marriage. It would be his moans that rise from the bottom of the chasm, begging forgiveness from his fiancée.

bel endroit sur la route de la corniche menant à TALMONT . On peut y voir les failles impressionnantes causées par la mer sur les roches . Pour la petite histoire des écrivains et cinéastes comme Henri-Georges Clouzot pour les Diaboliques se sont inspirés du lieu pour leurs ouvrages

Entre les sables d olonne et port bourgenay vous trouverez le Puits de l Enfer véritable phénomène de l érosion maritime avec ces 2 roches fendues en leur milieux .Très beau paysage que de voir des vagues se fracasser sur ces roches

Très beau point de vue sur l'Atlantique, à 2 pas des Sables d'Olonne.
On y accède soit par la piste cyclable ou à pied. Très belles randonnées le long de la cote. En voiture, pas de soucis pour se garer. Bol d'air garanti !
