The name Tablier comes from the Latin tabula (board, table) which evokes the flat and narrow granite terrain on which the town is built. It is the smallest commune of the agglomeration, but not the least charming because whoever discovers the Chaos de Piquet, falls in love with it! It is the most picturesque and charming site in the Yon Valley. Between the rocks, the water swirls as it weaves a path between the rocks, and it is the case to say it because on this site, remains the remains of an old spinning mill dating from 1861, operated for about ten years by a large paddle wheel, which was adjoined by a dyeing factory.
