Another charming site to discover the Marais Poitevin. It was only in the 19th century that this area, at the mercy of floods and surrounded by water, was drained, allowing visitors to enjoy its magnificent natural setting. The Sèvre Niortaise, which runs through the commune, offers exceptional fishing spots and water sports. On the edge of the Deux-Sèvres department, in the heart of the Venise verte region, the village of Le Mazeau has a population of 440. Most of the commune's surface area is taken up by a tangle of waterways that wind their way between plains, poplar groves and rows of pollarded ash trees.
