In 2015, the communes of La Flocellière, Saint-Michel-Mont-Mercure, Les Châtelliers-Châteaumur and La Pommeraie-sur-Sèvre merged to become a single commune named Sèvremont. At the top of the Vendée hills of the Gâtine, Saint-Michel-Mont-Mercure is the highest point of the Vendée at 290 m altitude. In the center of the village stands the church surmounted by a huge statue of the Archangel Saint Michel, 10 m high. Climb the 194 steps that will lead you to the top of the bell tower, a magnificent panorama of the Vendée bocage awaits you. La Flocellière means the flower of the sky. In the shadow of the puy Lambert cross, from where you can admire a superb panorama, La Flocellière has managed to highlight the treasures of its past, enhanced by a bucolic setting. The chapel of Carmel, the castle of Echardières, the old houses in the town, so many elements to discover thanks to the various marked out circuits of the heritage. If there is a site to see in this commune, it is the castle of La Flocellière. This private property, classified as a historical monument, is one of the rare castles that have been inhabited for nearly 1,000 years. It was partially burned by the "Colonnes Infernales" in 1794. Even if it cannot be visited, its park is open to the public. Another site to see is the chapel of Loreto. If this church, belonging to the Carmelite convent, is dedicated to Notre-Dame de Lorette, it is at the back of the building that an unusual sanctuary is located
