It is the most interior commune of the canton of the Country of Saint-Gilles. Indeed, it is only 14 km from Challans. Do you know where the name Coëx comes from? It comes from the Celtic word Coët which means "wood" or "wooded place". For your walks, 2 km away is the lake of Gué-Gorand, suitable for hiking and fishing. If there is one period in the year when you should go to Coëx, it is during the Mi-Carême. The Mi-Carême de Coëx is a major festival in the Vendée, and every year in March it brings together several thousand spectators in the town for a weekend, with a parade of floats and brass bands on the programme!
