Formed from the association of the former communes of Saint-Martin-de-Brem and Saint-Nicolas-de-Brem, Brem-sur-Mer has its origins in prehistory, as evidenced by the menhir of Crulière and the Calvary, and the Motte Saint-Nicolas de Brem in the feudal period, as well as remains such as the church of Saint-Nicolas and the church of Saint-Martin. On its rocky ridge, it enjoys a privileged location overlooking the sea, the marshes and the forest of Olonne. This town, bordered by large beaches, also owes its fame to its vineyard introduced by the Romans, crowned by the award of the VDQS label to the Fiefs Vendéens in 1984 and the AOC in 2011.
