François Halie was born in 1955 in Le Mans. Trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he has participated in numerous shows and exhibitions and has received many awards.
His first acrylic paintings are at first set on fire with bright colors and loose, even abstract forms. But it is at the beginning of the years 2000 that he reveals this particular figurative style that we know him today with a return of the oil technique.
His work is characterized by a very dense composition in a destructured space, where he gives to see a universe at the border of the real and the imaginary. The woman represented as an icon with an impenetrable face, is one of the recurring themes with the city and its dreamlike charge.
An exquisite melancholy with a poetic breath emerges from this work, where time seems suspended between wakefulness and waking dream through a restrained and subtle palette.
