It is the first commune you will cross after the bridge or after having taken the legendary Gois. On one side of this strip narrows at La Guérinière, the Atlantic Ocean, on the other, the Bay of Bourgneuf. A forest of maritime pines and a string of dunes run along the fine sandy beaches, including that of Le Midi (7 km), sheltered by a dune dominated by mills. Hiking trails, cycle tracks, sand yachting and water sports. The east coast is protected by dykes sheltering the Sevastopol Polder where you can observe the birds of this nature reserve. It is in this part of the island that potatoes are grown in spring.
