Between the lake and the forest, the old town with its slate-covered houses still has a very pure style church from the beginning of the century (but with one of the first reinforced concrete roofs now covered with copper). Aizenay has obtained the label "station verte" (green resort) thanks to its leisure facilities (heated swimming pool, tennis), and its natural attractions: the lake of La Vie and the forest which extends over 420 hectares. This forest belonged, before the Revolution, to the Count of Asnières, Lord of Aizenay. In 1912, it was sold to pay the inheritance tax. In 1976, the municipality appropriated a part of it. Pedestrian paths have been created with access from the CD6.
