Castle built by the barons of Ezpeleta, preserves vestiges of the one of the end of the Middle Ages, permanent exhibitions on the spot
Château d'Ezpeleta, the town's landmark, was built around the year 1000 by the barons of the same name and bequeathed to the people of Espelette in 1694 by Baroness Juliana Henriquez. In 1997, archaeological investigations revealed the remains of a late medieval fortress. Listed as a Monument Historique, it now houses permanent exhibitions: Agnès Souret, 1st Miss France; Father Armand David, discoverer of the panda in China; Peppers around the world.

important château fort qui abrite aujoud'hui notamment la mairie, les services administratifs de la commune et l'office de tourisme. on peut y voir des expositions permanentes, notamment celle sur le piment.
