It was a 6th-century hermit, Saint Leonard, who gave this charming village its name. Situated in the hollow of the valley and surrounded by heather-covered hills, its church contains a 17th-century jewel, a mise au tombeau of the Virgin with fourteen polychrome terracotta figures, a beautiful wooden vault and numerous wall paintings. Saint-Léonard-des-Bois benefits from green tourism thanks to its privileged geographical location. Indeed, this small commune lies in the heart of the Alpes Mancelles, just two hours from Paris.
