It was a 6th-century hermit, Saint Leonard, who gave this charming village its name. Situated in the hollow of the valley and surrounded by heather-covered hills, its church contains a 17th-century jewel, a mise au tombeau of the Virgin with fourteen polychrome terracotta figures, a beautiful wooden vault and numerous wall paintings. Saint-Léonard-des-Bois benefits from green tourism thanks to its privileged geographical location. Indeed, this small commune lies in the heart of the Alpes Mancelles, just two hours from Paris. There are plenty of walks in the area to enjoy this green setting.
