COMÉDIE LE MANS

Fun and entertainment
5/5
25 reviews

La Rochelle, Aix-en-Provence and Marseille all have their own Comédie, as does Comédie Le Mans. It's the same tour operator who programs headliners and undiscovered talent from one city to the next. The schedule is very varied, from one-man shows to children's shows, theater and especially comedies. It's all about entertainment rather than head-scratching. Shows scheduled for 2024 include: Kevin Levy in Cocu, the comedy Une cellule pour deux, Florian Lex, Quelqu'un de bien by Romuald Maufras, the family comedy Robin des Bois, prince des voleurs, and En avant les petits bolides, a show for children aged 3 and over.

LA BOURSE

Bar and caf

Here's a "classic" bar where all kinds of drinks are available. La Bourse's major asset is its location in the middle of the Place de la République, close to the shops. It's pleasant to enjoy the large terrace in summer, sipping a syrup or a beer, watching people go by, laden with bags, on their way to work, chatting with friends or enjoying a well-deserved break on your own... Don't hesitate to order at the bar.

LES CINEASTES

Cinema
5/5
1 review

This downtown cinema offers a rich program. The big advantage is that you can watch foreign films in their original language. Enthusiasts can receive the week's program by e-mail, simply by providing their address. Some popular films are nevertheless distributed here, especially those aimed at children. Personalities and associations are on hand when a feature film is being debated. The size of the auditoriums (40 to 184 seats) is adapted to the expected attendance. Access is via Place des Comtes-du-Maine (an elevator in a glass box for the disabled) or via Avenue du Général-de-Gaulle (stairs). An address to remember for fans of authentic arthouse cinema, far from the popcorn counter or 3D glasses!

LE MULLIGAN’S

Bar and caf

Choice of barrel or square tables. Orders are taken at the counter. The big flat-screen TV is a real sports fan's dream, but it's a rugby match you've got to see to feel the fever rise. Exclusively Anglo-Saxon music for a clientele with a casual or elegant look, who chat, sing and even dance between two games of pool or darts. A must-try is the draught table at the back of the bar on the left, with its 2 draught taps (Guiness and Carlsberg). You can order and serve yourself. A modern, playful version of the giraffe. Around 2am, the bell announces closing time. And already! Mulligan's reputation is well earned.

LE BAROUF

Music and entertainment bar
4.5/5
2 reviews

One of the major hubs of Manche's nightlife. Le Barouf is an undisputed success with the Sarthe population. Regulars enjoy the bar or terrace (very quiet, as it's on a pedestrian street) before the evening begins. Le Barouf is a cultural melting pot with a lively atmosphere. The bar hosts exhibitions (often of works by young Beaux-Arts graduates). Many concerts are also organized: DJs, slammers, French chanson... Lola Baï, ThOM, la Gabylie, Fat Super, Run Ronie Run... The whole local scene is in full swing. The decor is worth its weight in gold (or peanuts): a little underground New York subway, especially in the toilets where your graffiti will be welcome.

LE BABYLONE

Club
4/5
3 reviews

This "gay & lesbian" bar and discotheque welcomes all generations. Known for its wild parties and, above all, its back-room, the atmosphere here is extremely hot. As a major player in the first gay pride in Le Mans, he contributed to the unique value of our town being recognized as one of the few in France to clearly commit to and accept the LGBT community. Between the drag queens, the sexy boys, the hot gogos and the famous shower, which never lets up, customers quickly get into the swing of things. And if the atmosphere gets too hot, you can relax in the K-Chô (men's area) and get lost in its labyrinth! The young, dynamic bosses are constantly striving to offer you the best evenings out, and it shows! These include a visit from Benoît from Secret Story, a Desireless concert, a Magloire show, an Ysa Ferrer showcase, as well as drag queen contests, karaoke, and elections for the most beautiful buttocks... You're sure to have a great time here. You can download each month's program on their website or on Facebook "le Babylone officiel".

Situated next to 100% Pneus, this extensive open bar offers a lovely range of beers: Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, France... you're sure to sample some fresh, frothy wonders. The place is aptly named, as it's right on the circuit. But that's not the whole story. People come here to listen to local rock bands, or to take part in themed evenings (Quiznights, afterworks...). The place is truly convivial!

LE LÉZARD

Bar and caf
4/5
1 review

This cheerful lizard has an adorable storefront, and a nice counter for a string of draught beers. We nibble on succulent homemade tapas with Turkish bread to dip in tarama or tzatziki, squid fritters and other dishes full of flavor and freshness. But Le Lézard is more about drinking, chatting and moving about. And especially for the regular evenings organized around a musician or band, an event, a drink or an exhibition. Punk night or acoustic guitar night, the choice is yours. But the common denominator is the good atmosphere and the quality of the musicians or other contributors. So even if it's a lively affair, it's all in good fun.

MOJITO ROYAL

Music and entertainment bar
3.5/5
4 reviews

Val'r knows how to entertain with its fine selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails. A vast choice of mojitos awaits you, depending on the season and the surprising creations: in fact, a new mojito is discovered every month. In fine weather, you can enjoy your mojito on one of the two pleasant terraces. Inside, the decor revolves around coffee: burlap bags around the tables and coffee beans scattered here and there. In summer, we add other fun little objects to the ceiling: flip-flops, rakes, small inflatable balloons... It's the perfect place to enjoy a margarita away from the downtown crowds, or to try something new like bourbon coffee with a hint of vanilla. It also offers a wide range of exceptional products (whisky, cognac and top-of-the-range rum) and sells cigars. The sound ambiance is excellent. Numerous themed evenings are organized, some with DJs. Check out the program on their Facebook page.

LE COMPTOIR

Music and entertainment bar
3.5/5
2 reviews

Here is a bar near the new bridges especially appreciated. And that is understandable! The bosses always smile at the lips with an impressive dynamism. Consumption is at the right price. We recommend that you take our heart: SALES, from sweet rosé with grapefruit syrup and pieces of green lemon. Don't hesitate to ask "potato petals" or small things to eat during your festive meeting. On the decoration, it puts on the comfort so that you feel as well as at home. And this from the terrace to the room. Brown and white tones, the interior prints the image of a beautiful living room or a pleasant walk-in room, extremely warm. There is a large wooden counter, comfortable benches, high stools, small small tables and comfortable chairs. The Counter is very successful as a night bar, and you will soon understand why. On weekends, the dance trail lives on the rhythms of laughter and déchanchés. So test without moderation!

LE CHICAGO BAR

Cocktail bar
3/5
3 reviews

A true mixology enthusiast, Laurent (the owner), trained by one of the world's most renowned French masters, welcomes you to his bar, where two different atmospheres reign. The Cuban-inspired decor on the first floor transports you into a warm, colorful ambience. The space, Latin rhythms, house-arranged rums and non-alcoholic cocktails will give you a unique experience on the revolutionary island. Take the spiral staircase upstairs and you'll find yourself back in Chicago, in the Prohibition atmosphere of the 1920s-1930s. Cosy leather sofas and retro music welcome you like the speakeasy bars of Chicago's nicer neighborhoods. You'll find Cosa Nostra godfathers and an exact replica of the famous Thomson Tommy Gun. Cocktails, shooters, gin, vodka and whisky from all over the world are served with elegance. If you'd like to learn how to make your own cocktails, there are workshops every Friday, where you can try your hand at three different cocktails. You can also book a private room on Monday and Tuesday evenings. This Old Mans establishment is well worth a visit for the originality of its cocktails and its decor!

MIMOZA

Coffee shop and tea room
3/5
1 review

Gone is the Galand brasserie tearoom, hello Mimoza and its appetizing green front. Pastry chef Sylvain Guesdon has just taken over the establishment, renaming it Mimoza after the mimosa egg. Simple and effective! The soul of the patisserie lives on, as Mr. Galand has passed on his recipes to the new head pastry chef. Upstairs, the seminar area is transformed into an atmospheric bar from Wednesday to Sunday evenings, with platters and cocktails. On Rue de Bolton, Mimoza has reserved a space for takeaway sandwiches. The new owner, who already runs three bakeries, knows his stuff when it comes to sandwiches...

LE LODGE IRISH PUB

Beer bar

An Irish pub in the middle of downtown - that's the Lodge! As you enter this lively street-side establishment, you'll discover a wooden décor typical of Irish pubs. Upstairs you'll find a spacious lounge area, while on the first floor you'll find a large, partially-covered terrace with high and low tables and deckchairs, creating a friendly atmosphere. The bar offers a wide selection of beers and sausages for connoisseurs. The walls are adorned with works by local artists. And sometimes, concerts or DJ sets liven up the place. So let's raise our glasses and say " Sláinte ", just like in Dublin.

LA CAVE DE LA TRINQUETTE

Bar and caf

Faced with a simple, unassuming storefront, we tend not to dare enter. And yet, as we pass by again and again, we can't help but recognize that there's something warm and friendly about the place. And that's exactly what La Cave de la Trinquette does for us! The original layout, with its barrel-shaped tables and high chairs, certainly has a lot to do with it. So if the laughter and good humor finally convince you to come in, you can start your evening by sampling the many flavored wines expertly recommended by the owner (some forty syrups are on offer, including some highly original ones with surprising flavors: ginger, curaçao...). It's easy to understand why they're such regulars, especially given the friendly welcome they receive. Closing early (9 p.m.), this cellar is ideal for a small or large aperitif!
