It is here that Saint Fraimbault was buried, a holy evangelizer of Maine in the 6th century, whose legendary life is said to have inspired Chrétien de Troyes to create the character of Lancelot du Lac. Lassay is the river that waters the village, as for the castles, there are three of them. Impossible not to fall under the charm of this small town of 2 400 inhabitants, charming, welcoming and rich in heritage, especially with its medieval quarter. Its jewel is the castle in the town centre, one of the three that gave it its name, which surprises by its nobility and its excellent condition, but many other assets are highlighted. Lassay-les-Châteaux is classified since 1992 as a Small City of Character. The facades of the medieval centre are painted according to the colour chart of the Monuments Historiques de France. It is in Lassay that was "invented", about thirty years ago, the principle of the competition of painting in the streets which has lasted since and has been taken up by many other villages. Here is a site where you must stay several days to taste the atmosphere and enjoy it. In addition, everything is done to make your stopover a success. The quality of the welcome - especially at the Tourist Office - the upkeep of public and private areas, small shops, cultural areas... It would be a shame not to linger! Lassay is a Monts et Marches du Parc site as part of the circuit in the footsteps of Lancelot du Lac with nine stopovers that highlight the heritage of this inspiring area
