Villebernier conceals many treasures. Apart from the second residence of King René, it is a commune of the Loire in the strongest sense, that is to say that it maintains a particular link with the Loire since its creation. In the 12th century, the first port was built there, as well as a religious building on the town's mound, known as unsinkable, to protect the inhabitants from flooding. And it seems that it worked! During the terrible flood of 1843, the town was inexplicably spared: only 40 cm of water... and a statue of the Virgin washed up.
