"More than hard marble, I like fine slate. "(J. Du Bellay) A municipality in the Val-de-Loire (World Heritage Site), Trélazé is best known in the region for its historical influence. Having been one of the main slate-producing centres in the country, it had a considerable impact on the region's economy from the 19th to the early 21st century. The memory of this glorious past is maintained today by the Slate Museum, but also by the monuments that testify to the elegance of this stone such as the castles of Fresnaye and Périneau-Verrières. The Saint-Pierre church, with its luminous stone interior, is also worth seeing!
