A small mountain village, Belmont, clinging to the side of Champ du Feu, towers 788 meters above the Schirrgoutte valley and the upper Bruche valley, making it the highest village in Bas-Rhin. Charming footpaths invite walkers to discover the special flora and fauna found at altitude, and the forest and its undergrowth. The Champ du Feu resort (1,000 to 1,099 meters above sea level) offers a wide range of sports and leisure activities. Belmont's climate is typical, with lots of rain and thunderstorms in summer, sometimes strong winds, and snow of varying intensity in winter, but the village is well worth a visit.
