(Saint-Mathurin-sur-Loire) Between Saumur and Angers, one of the most beautiful villages on the edge of the Loire River, built on the great lift separating the river from its rich alluvial plain, the dispenser of abundant cultures. The white lime facades were built under the protection of the th century church which gives the village its characteristic silhouette. Saint-Mathurin, during the Revolution, was called Port-la-Vallée, thus paying homage to the Loire Navy which flourished in its environs from the th to the th century. The Authion Valley is in the beautiful days of thousands of flowers: horticulture and fruit arboriculture are the flagship activities of this vast alluvial plain.
