Since 2016, Doué-la-Fontaine has been part of the new commune of Doué-en-Anjou, which also includes the communes of Brigné, Concourson-sur-Layon, Forges, Meigné, Montfort, Saint-Georges-sur-Layon and Les Verchers-sur-Layon. Located in the Basse Loire coalfield, ancient quarries still exist today and can be visited, such as the Cave aux sarcophages - an astonishing experience! Of course, don't miss the Bioparc, Doué-la-Fontaine Zoo, also located in an abandoned quarry. Once again, this exceptional site promises an unusual journey, and will raise your awareness of the need to protect flora and fauna.
