Just 30 kilometers southeast of Angers and 36 kilometers from Saumur, another tiny commune in the Saumur region, bordered by the Aubance river, is located. In the 18th century, a large part of its population lived in cellars. Here again, we're in troglodyte country, with shelters carved out of the stone still visible in the hamlets of La Fosse, Bourgneuf and La Bâchellerie. Don't miss Grézillé's Romanesque church of Saint-Hilaire, the 15th-century Château de Pimpéan and the restored Gasté mill. This mill is typical of the region and one of the few still producing flour.
