Planetik, a young company which proposed to Biarritz Tourisme, a first series of 350 pairs of espadrilles, the espatong, was created in 2006. It targets a clientele of companies and communities to whom it offers an offer adapted to their needs while offering real guarantees in terms of social and environmental responsibility. Indeed, this flip-flop mixes the local tradition of the famous rope soles with a recycled material, while the straps come from recycled tarpaulins. Thus since July 2007, Planetik has joined the 1% for the planet (www.onepercentfortheplanet.org) but there are not only flip-flops. Men, women and children will discover a whole original range from clothing companies near Biarritz. Moreover, it has recently started distributing the Surfrider Foudation Europe collection, an association dedicated to the protection of waves and coastlines, see on the website www.surfrider
