Baugé-en-Anjou was born from the merger of fifteen municipalities around the forest of Chandelais, one of the most fertile in the region. King René had a large pavilion built there which he used as a hunting lodge. Churches with twisted bell towers, manor houses and castles adorn the countryside while the old town, "Petite Cité de caractère", offers a graceful ballet of listed facades, wrought iron balconies, sculpted dormer windows and slate roofs. In summer, don't miss the theatrical and humorous tours of the town. Finally, discover the local greenway: 50 km of cycle track on the tracks of an old railway.
