This castle of King René is full of secrets and surprises! Nestled at the back of his courtyard, in the Governor's Lodge, his Monument Café develops a much more attractive concept than the endless snacks and cafeterias that generally abound in tourist attractions. In winter, the place offers quiches, tartiflettes, pancakes and soups. On sunny days, we offer more elaborate formulas including good dishes, often simmered in a casserole dish (ratatouille, soya turkey and its spilled cream with ceps...) as well as a wide choice of verrines of very high quality: beetroot muslin and smoked haddock or lentils from Le Puy to sherry vinegar, for example, for the salty part, or excellent tiramisus, cremets from Anjou and panna cotta on the dessert side. Feel free to book your table between 12pm and 2pm: you will have free access to the castle! Weakness: the place is quickly full. Highlights: dishes with great flavours and an open terrace in high season.
