The green loop is now almost complete. This lane reserved for bicycles and pedestrians aims to make people discover Angers in a different way, by highlighting the natural environment of Angers, between greenery and waterways.

Point from départ  : free, as long as it's on the west bank of Maine... and on Angers. On the one hand, it's Île Saint-Aubin to the north that calls us, when Maine is not too high. We leave without realizing the civilization to enter a migration zone of many bird species. If the ground is muddy, it is sometimes necessary to get off the bike to avoid the fall trap and a dirty landing .

If we look the other way to the South, it is the prospect of reaching Lake Maine that motivates us, with a possible stop at the port of Angers, opposite the castle: a little drink in the small cafés that border the Maine (La Cale, La Descente de la Marine, Le Bistrot des Carmes...) or even a "food and drink" break at the top of the theatre Le Quai, at the restaurant Quai des Saveurs. If you prefer to continue on your way, you can go directly to Balzac Park, where you can leave Maine for a while and enjoy the shady tree-lined paths or take a well-deserved break on a public bench ...

The logical continuation is the Parc de la Garenne and the Etang Saint-Nicolas (8 km for the full tour) if you choose to follow the green loop or the Lac de Maine: completely artificial, it was dug out at the end of the seventies, because the construction of the motorway between Nantes and Angers required a large amount of earth. You can choose to go around it, or continue along the Maine River to reach Bouchemaine and continue the Loire Valley Bike Trail.
