The history of the municipality is linked to the important activity of its butchers and pork butchers, in addition to agricultural practices. The inhabitants who did not work the land were often employed in the textile or wood industries of the Nay region. At the beginning of the 20th century (1900), it acquired a public slaughterhouse. This was the result of long negotiations and debates based on a letter from the prefect dated 15 February 1894. At that time, the site of Bénéjacq became unhealthy because of the particular killings without authorization. The City Council accepted the project but under certain conditions, in particular that the slaughter of pigs could continue in the particular killings. However, in view of the scale of the expenditure, in June of the same year, the Council reversed its decision. The prefect threatens to close down the particular killings. Negotiations took place between the town hall, the butchers and the prefect before finally reaching an agreement in October 1899 to install the slaughterhouse in the La Lanusse district. Built in 1900, the building was no longer sufficient and had to be enlarged first in 1903 and then in 1908. His activity was intense until the 1960s. It ceased its activities in the 1980s and closed definitively in 1986. Today, the building still exists, located at the end of rue du Gabizos, and is used as a municipal warehouse.
