BRAS DE FER BAR CAVE

Caviste

A new wine shop has opened in Nantes, with a name that's nothing short of muscular: Bras de Fer! Run by 3 partners, all wine experts or oenologists, their cellar is all about quantity, but above all, quality. 95% natural wines to taste on the premises or to take away. They also produce their own wine: the grapes are harvested in the vineyards of Nantes and Anjou, and then vinified by their partner l'Agronaute. The dining room is also very pleasant, with its mezzanine and great outdoor courtyard, ideal for a stroll in summer. And let's not forget their great program (concerts, exhibitions, DJ sets) and local produce, such as Painbar bread and Vendeen ham. A real treat!

L'ENQUIQUILLEUR

Wine Cellar Wine House

Stéphane, or l'enquiquilleur, is a true enthusiast. Nicknamed "l'enquiquilleur" by his friends a few years ago, this nickname comes from his passion for good wines and his enthusiasm (perhaps too overflowing?) in pointing out which wine or place to choose for a good tasting. So, the name chosen for this place that's part wine cellar, part wine bar was just right! He welcomes us and advises us in a relaxed atmosphere in the heart of the Saint-Donatien district. The wines are mainly natural, clean and lively. He favors local production and doesn't necessarily work with big winemakers. He is especially attached to producers and artisans who are free of chemicals and frills. Once a month, he organizes evenings to promote contact and exchange with his customers. Oyster and wine tasting, food and wine pairings, aperitif oenology or even improv theater. He brings the neighborhood to life for all to enjoy. Don't hesitate to ask his advice, he'll find just what you need!

NICOLAS

Caviste

This is an inescapable sign in the world of wines and spirits, and it is synonymous with luxury. But not only, because wines can be found in the quality ratio of interest: witness these gift boxes at less than 30 € or random this younger sheep 2004 to less than € 10 and this Villemajou 2003 (corbières). The choice is wide and the selections made by real connoisseurs can help you find your happiness among the Bordeaux, Bourgognes, Loire Valley, without forgetting, the champagnes, ciders, spirits… Living with their time, the specialists at Nicolas also spotted some pearls in foreign wines, from Argentina, from Australia, also from the Maghreb or from Hungary. Finally discover the Nicolas ranges: small crops that do not pay a mine, but which fully justify the confidence that can be given to this renowned brand. New stores are expected to take place in Nantes.

Its taste often affects the Languedoc, but the Loire remains ubiquitous. Regularly, tastings are organized around small snacks. Examples: Gilardeau oysters and Landron ou or Corsican sausages and saint-Chinian. Eat naturally with moderation. Around permanent exhibitions of artists.

DISTILOIRE SPIRITUEUX

Sale of wines and spirits

In 2017, cellar master Benoît Chaigneau founded Distiloire, an artisanal spirits producer that makes Gin 1924, Pastis Meskad and Vermouth Douce Folie from local wines. Some of the plants are organically grown and sourced locally (Val de Loire), and the alchemy occurs to create authentic spirits with a flavor far removed from that of industrial beverages. While gin is essentially made from juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica root and chamomile, pastis features no less than twenty plants, including the essential licorice and anise, as well as Tonka bean, cardamom, Sichuan pepper, lemon balm and thorn shoots, a nod to its Vendée origins. Benoît is the only professional to produce these beverages in the department, and one of only a handful in the West. Now certified organic, the passionate cellar master won two prizes at the Concours aénéral Agricole Paris 2020: gold for Gin 1924 and silver for Pastis Meskad. The latest award: Spiced Rhum 5.5. Discover them to please yourself or others!

UN PAVÉ DANS LA VIGNE

Caviste

Just a step away from the Place Viarme, in its continuity, by taking the small one-way street in this sympathetic district of the Hauts Pavés, it is to the 46th street that we recommend a stop, for a pause at the same time greedy and oenological. Here, no fighting, no paving stones are thrown into the pond but into the vineyard! This play on words is certainly a wink to the love of good wine embodied here by Barbara who runs the cellar, and who is also at the service, associated with Rémi his other passion in life, himself a chef. The soil, the stones, the earth (the pavement?), a selection of quality suppliers for a good bistro cuisine and it's won! And as the restaurant is also a wine cellar, it is the possibility on the same place to taste in afterwork these beautiful bottles on the spot or to take away! During the week at lunchtime, including Saturdays, Rémi delights us with his bistronomic formulas: we can enjoy duck ravioli, tuna tartar, and grilled octopus that he masters to perfection. The "good food" is also a menu of the chef's specialties such as his foie gras with pommeau de Bretagne or the salmon gravlax, or the VG, a curry of frika (potato pancake) and kasha (roasted buckwheat). Gourmets will try the chocolate fondant. The Cellar is the new place to enjoy afterwork drinks and discover Barbara's wines that she recommends with a will to democratize, to explain the origins: organic, biodynamic and natural wines. She tells us about her favorites and likes to thematize them: wines for every day, festive wines, wines of the winemakers. Chinon, Burgundy, but also Chablis, Sancerre and of course wines from the Loire region. High passion in this street of Hauts-Pavés! To be discovered!
