Saint-Venant is one of the 5 villages labelled as a Heritage Village by the Pays de la Lys Romane Tourist Office. The town has a marina where you can hire small electric boats and take a walk on the river. With the town hall dating from 1766, the walk to the old fortifications, and in particular the Vauban gate and the paddle wheel, is an attraction in itself. The towpath which leads to the Bourdon d'Haverskerque pit and the old ferryman's house offers more than an hour's walk accessible to all, pedestrians or cyclists. A nice step in your visit of the Bethune area.
