The "Grands Bureaux de la Compagnie Minière" and the church of Sainte-Barbe, built for the miners, are all witnesses to the history of Noeux-les-Mines. When the last mine shaft closed in 1963, the municipality decided to react. This was followed by the developments that we know, including Loisinord which welcomes many people. Among the other original sites of the town, there is the beautiful bourgeois residence built in 1960 by the Compagnie Minière, which was used by the board of directors of the mines and by the French and German staffs during the two great wars and which has now been converted into a hotel-restaurant.
